STATION V

The ransomed of the Lord shall return,
and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

The wilderness and the dry land shall rejoice,*
The desert shall blossom and burst into song.
They shall see the glory of the Lord,*
the majesty of our God.

Strengthen the weary hands,*
And make firm the feeble knees.
Say to the anxious, ‘Be strong, fear not,
say your God is coming with judgement,*
coming with judgement to save you.

The ransomed of the Lord shall return,
and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.
 [Isaiah 35.1,2b,3-4a]

Your hands are weary,
your knees are feeble.
Simon’s own experiences of injustice,
gives him strength, to reach out to you.

Help me to avoid actions that undermine human dignity and freedom of expression.
We are all made in God’s image, regardless of race, creed, colour, status or sexuality. From ‘saints’ to ‘sinners’, we all in varied and different ways, fall short of that image.

This fifth station,
recognises your deep compassion,
for the marginalised and excluded.

Like you,
they struggle
to be true to themselves.
Help me,
make their desert to blossom,
so their lives, can burst into song.
